Proactiv & Pregnancy

September 1st, 2009

Proactiv interestingly enough has been banned in Europe, not because of benzoyl peroxide naturally, but because of another ingredient.  But frankly though they don’t catch everything, something being banned in Europe makes me worry about it for understandable reasons.  I mean obviously we know about the side effects connected with benzoyl peroxide.  But what else could it do?   And how else could it affect the body and otherwise?  Could it be dangerous during pregnancy, especially with all the hormones changes that so often come along with it?  It is important to monitor anything you use during pregnancy due to possible damage to the fetus. But especially with something as potentially harmful to the skin as benzoyl peroxide, you have to honestly wonder if it could possibly seep into the rest of the body and do some serious damage that you might not actually know about until it’s too late.  Either way, with Proactiv and pregnancy, that is one thing I would really be careful about and frankly just not use it whether you are pregnant or not because of all the side effects anyway.  The fact that it is banned in Europe for the ingredient used just adds to the pot, stirs the pot in a sense.
